New features and enhancements
The following new features and enhancements were added:
- Upgraded licensing implementation to meet AVEVA Unified Engineering requirements. Solution: Upgrade to AVEVA Diagrams 14.3.
- Removed dependency on the system variable APPSTREAM_SESSION_CONTEXT.
- Added administrator configurable environment variable: Aveva_connect_Authority_Url (https://signin.devconnect-aveva.com).
| Description |
|---|
| Symbol shape catalog is now available when exporting drawings in DEXPI format using schema version 3.3.3. |
| New prompt during DEXPI export notifies users when an output file already exists. Workflow: Export selected drawing to DEXPI format. A pop-up appears allowing the user to proceed or cancel. |
| New feature: Delete multiple drawings from project database. Workflow: Open Schematic Model Manager, navigate to Tools menu, and then select Delete Multiple Drawings. Select one or multiple drawings and select Delete. |
| Redefinition of DEXPI shape catalog export.Workflow: The application now analyzes the project shape catalog and exports one instance of each available symbol found in project stencils. Each exported symbol instance in the drawings now references the single unique symbol definition from the shape catalog. |
Resolved issues
The following issues reported in earlier releases have been resolved in this version.
| Issue | Resolution |
|---|---|
| We improved the graphical representation accuracy of drawing entities exported using the DEXPI format. | Upgrade to AVEVA Diagrams 14.3, then export the drawings again. |
| Diagrams slowed down when users opened multiple drawings in a single session. | Because upgrading AVEVA Diagrams to a 64-bit architecture is not possible, we introduced a workaround in AVEVA Diagrams 14.3. The application now monitors memory usage from the command line and displays messages that show both the memory currently in use and the remaining available memory. Recommendation: When the remaining memory becomes low, restart the application to prevent slow performance or unexpected behavior. |
Known issues
The following known issues and deferred items have been identified for this release. Where available, recommended workarounds are provided:
| Problem Description | Recommended Solution |
|---|---|
| Replace symbol does not work for SCDUCT type elements. | Upgrade to Diagrams 14.3 and replace the SCDUCT type symbol on the target drawing. |
| A fatal error occurs when running consistency validation in batch mode. | Upgrade to Diagrams 14.3 and run the consistency check in batch mode again. |
| Schematic Model Manager does not import pipelines with the expected structure. | Upgrade to Diagrams 14.3 and import external drawings using the import drawing option in Schematic Model Manager. |
| Importing external drawings using Schematic Model Manager delivers inconsistent results when drawings are imported in different order. | Upgrade to Diagrams 14.3 and import external drawings using the import drawing option in Schematic Model Manager. |
| Drawings exported to DWG format in batch mode generate invalid DWG files. | Upgrade to Diagrams 14.3 and re-export the selected drawings in batch mode. |
| AVEVA Diagrams crashes repeatedly in the UEoC environment. | Upgrade to Diagrams 14.3. |
| The Change Group option does not move instrument loop reference as expected. | Upgrade to Diagrams 14.3 and use the Change Group option. |
| Attribute and symbol mappings are not captured in the exported DEXPI file. | Upgrade to Diagrams 14.3, configure symbol and attribute mappings in the application, and reexport the drawings using schema version 4.0.1. |
Expectations and limitations
The following expectations and limitations should be considered for this release:
- DEXPI 4.0.1 class mapping limitations: Class mapping in this release is limited to the existing DB element types in the schematic database. Equipment and instrument classes from P&IDs cannot be mapped to corresponding DEXPI classifications. The next fix release will extend configuration options to map equipment and instrument classifications using user-defined component attributes.
- Datasheets view: The Datasheets view has been removed from Diagrams in this release. To view datasheets in the same project context, use the feature available in AVEVA Engineering.
- Custom installation path warning: A warning appears if Diagrams is installed in a directory other than the default path. This does not affect functionality and will be corrected in a future release.
- Folder naming restrictions: Avoid using spaces in installation, project, defaults, and USER DATA folder names. Diagrams does not support folder paths containing spaces.
- Compatibility with older products: If you are using AVEVA Diagrams 14.1 or later, you cannot use the versions of Diagrams included with AVEVA PDMS 12.1 SP4 or AVEVA Hull and Outfitting 12.1 SP4. These versions are not compatible.
- Administration and Lexicon compatibility: Once you start using AVEVA Administration 1.5, you cannot use the Admin or Lexicon versions included with PDMS 12.1 SP4 or Hull & Outfitting 12.1 SP4.
- Visio template settings: For drawing templates used in AVEVA Diagrams, disable the Auto Size option in the Visio Design tab, or disable Let Visio expand the page as needed option in Page Setup.
- Office and Visio upgrade requirement: Before upgrading Microsoft Office and Visio, uninstall any existing Office365 Apps or Microsoft Visio installations
